The Bronx Children's Museum is transforming into an educational and design hub that aims to bridge the digital divide and foster innovation within the local community.
Project Overview

By transforming the Museum into a dual-purpose hub, this project aims to empower both students and corporate partners, bridging the digital divide, teaching transferable skills, and fostering meaningful collaboration.

Providing a dedicated Design Lab for students to engage in hands-on, interactive educational activities
Offering a collaborative workspace for corporate partners to work on innovative design projects and prototypes
Impact 100,000 children and families in 2025-26 by creating an Education Lab for students; and a Design Lab for corporate partners
Ensuring equal access to digital resources and technologies, while promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration between various stakeholders.

Through its mission, history, and commitment to equitable access, the Museum makes a lasting impact on the lives of children, nurturing their curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning in the STEAM fields.

Established in 2006, reached 175,000 children before opening the building
Served over 100,000 children since opening in 2022
Fostering an environment that encourages exploration, innovation, and a passion for learning in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
The museum has been making an impact on children's education and development since its inception in 2006, even before opening its physical museum location.
Since the opening of the museum in 2022, the organization has been able to directly engage with and provide educational experiences to over 100,000 children.

Collaborative Research: Students will work alongside corporate partners to identify and research a product concept. This phase includes understanding market needs, technical specifications, and the latest trends in product design.
Research and Concept Development:
- Program Structure: The Design Lab can be implemented as a summer camp or after-school program, involving middle/high school students in hands-on, project-based learning.
STEM Education: Students will be introduced to various STEM fields related to product development, including engineering, materials science, and environmental sustainability.
