The children created each piece by hand using high quality yarn and thread. Many of the students had never created art from fabric so this represented a brand new experience for them,

Testimonies
“The students at our school had the opportunity to learn about cultures and how they are connected to the environment through fine arts. The students have shown such enthusiasm [and the] teaching artists have done a great job collaborating with the teachers to ensure students grasp key concepts. The students worked on a class rug, decorative arts, and individual baskets. It is evident that students were able to represent their individual cultures. Parents loved the culminating event that was held! We would be lucky to have our students in this program next year.” --Marie Colamartino, Assistant Principal
“Students experiencing art is so important, but having an entire art program individualized to a child is even more important. I want to thank BxCM for providing my students the opportunity to boost their critical thinking skills, teaching them to take their time to be more careful and thorough in how they observe the world. They provided challenges for learners at all levels. Bronx Children’s Museum art education connects children with their own culture as well as with the wider world.” --Ms. Smith, K-5
“The children looked forward to the two days a week when [Mr. Chris and Ms. Mona] came to our classroom. Both kept the children engaged with hands on projects while learning about their different cultures. We also had the opportunity to go to the Bronx Children’s Museum. The children really enjoyed their time there and did not want to leave.” --Ms. Rossini, Kindergarten Teacher
