Pre-K & Kindergarten Programs

“Sink or Float” - STEAM

Will it sink or will it float? Children will explore the concepts of buoyancy and density exploration of the Waterways exhibit. They’ll apply the knowledge learned by crafting and constructing different mechanisms and testing their hypothesis of sink or float.

“My Block” - ARTS

Music is integral to culture, and culture lives within our walls and beyond. Whether it’s drumming or shaking, children will reflect on the music they experience in their daily lives in their communities and make connections. Creating musical instruments is the perfect way to compliment their visit to “The Block” exhibit.

“Fantastical Bugs” - ARTS

While exploring our “Woods’’ exhibit, bugs and all types of animals and critters can be found hiding along the walls or even inside the Beaver lodge. Children combine science and imagination to create their own fantastical bugs! A butterfly with three heads? A worm with actual legs? All is possible with this project.

“My Block” -  ARTS

Community is what makes our bustling borough a true New York City neighborhood. Free exploration in “The Block” exhibit is coupled with an art making opportunity to create a classroom community. Each child will design a building with recycled materials to add to their group town or city.

“Flora & Fauna” - ARTS

Discover the nature of the Bronx through projects based on our Woods exhibit of critters, creatures, and fauna that make up our beautiful Bronx landscape. Use your imagination and science exploration to create new collage hybrids of plants and animals for your own world.
