What is Art? Bronx Soles at Bronx Art Space
n March 2013, the Bronx Children’s Museum collaborated with Bronx Art Space, a Bronx neighborhood gallery, and Andre Trenier, one of the featured artists in their exhibition called Bronx Soles which ran from March 2 - 23, 2013.
Bronx native Andre Trenier’s work explores social and economic themes while working on unconventional surfaces, such as shoes and hats. Bronx Soles was curated by Linda Cunningham.
During the duration of the exhibit, Bronx Soles artist Andre Trenier worked with Museum educator Natalie Wood to provide five experiences to a second grade class at PS 49, including: a tour of Bronx Soles; four fine art studio classes at PS 49; and an art show with a reception featuring the work of the children at Bronx Art Space.
Special thanks to PS 49, Andre Trenier, Maria Estevez and Linda Cunningham from Bronx Arts Space for help planning and running the BCM What is Art? Program.
Bronx Space is located at 305 E.140th Street, 1A, Bronx, NY
What is Art? is an artist-in-residency program in its second year created and led by the Bronx Children’s Museum to bring together local artists exhibiting their art in local Bronx arts galleries with neighborhood schools and early childcare centers.
