Where Art and Environment Connect.

Young learners explore the powerful connections between culture and our local environment. Through hands-on art, kindergarteners discover how the natural world unites us all.

Why Rivers On the Go Unity Matters

The Need
In an urban environment, young children need early, positive introductions to ecology. They need to see how nature is relevant to their lives and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Our Solution
We use the universal language of fine arts to connect kindergarteners to the Bronx River, demonstrating how our shared environment is a powerful source of unity for all cultures.

How It Works
Cultural Storytelling
Sessions begin by exploring stories about water and nature from the diverse cultures represented in the classroom, fostering a sense of shared heritage.
Artistic Creation
Inspired by the stories and the science of the river, children use paint, clay, and collage to create their own unique artworks expressing their connection to nature.
Community Exhibit
The students' artwork is proudly displayed in a group exhibition, celebrating their collective creativity and their shared role as environmental stewards.
