The Bronx Built This.

Built by the Bronx, for the Bronx. We partnered with local artists and youth to help imagine and shape the design of our vibrant museum spaces, embedding community creativity into our very walls.

Why Arts Builds Community Matters

The Need:
A museum should be a true reflection of the community it serves. Often, local voices, especially those of young people, are not included in the design of major institutions.

Our Solution:
We empowered Bronx youth and local artists to become co-creators of the Museum. By giving them a central role in designing our facility, we ensured our space is authentic, representative, and inspiring.

How It Works
Collaborative Design
We hosted creative workshops where youth and professional artists brainstormed and developed original concepts for key areas within the Museum.
Professional Mentorship
Teaching artists mentored youth participants, guiding them through the process of turning their creative ideas into professional, large-scale design plans.
Permanent Installation
The final, co-created designs were fabricated and installed as permanent fixtures, becoming a lasting testament to the creativity of the Bronx community.
