It’s about staying connected.

A message from the Executive Director

It’s been a difficult month for everyone as the world and our local communities continue to be in flux. Here at the Bronx Children's Museum, we are busy recreating ways to stay in touch and be there for children and our communities. Last month, our first project was the creation and launch of KidBits, a series of mini-moments published through our social media channels and on our website and available to everyone. Kidbits include a variety of art activities, read-alouds, profiles of Bronx heroes, and fun animal encounters led by our museum staff and guides. There are even a few special young guests making appearances, too. For our eleven Bronx partner schools, we are working with educators to create virtual visits that continue the in-school and after-school programming already in progress this year. The education segments include units about art, nature and the Bronx, read-alouds, and an engaging art activity. Teachers share the units with their students who can then complete follow-up worksheets also created by the Museum. On a broader scale, the Museum is providing art and STEAM-based video segments for a new initiative with BronxNet called The Bronx Edulution. The content airs on local cable and BronxNet.tv bringing remote learning to Bronx families and communities. BronxNet can be seen on channel Optimum channel 67 or FiOS channel 33. See their website for broadcast times. We long to be back together creating joyful enriching experiences. Until then, we hope you join us, follow us, visit us and stay in touch so we can continue to be a supportive community-based children’s museum that is here for today and tomorrow. Let’s all dream big together.
