On Saturday, November 22, 2025, Bronx Children’s Museum hosted a special morning session to bring awareness and provide an essential space for learning and healing with play.
In partnership with New York Life Foundation (NYLF), the Association of Children’s Museums, Knology and Sesame Workshop, the event highlighted ways to support bereaved children and families in our community.
“I am immensely proud that children’s museums are stepping up to provide essential space for learning and healing with play,” said Arthur Affleck, President and CEO of the Association of Children’s Museums.

“New York Life Foundation is very excited to be bringing this event to the Bronx Community,” commented Heather Nesle, the organization’s President.

The special session featured readings by Jessica Jackson, Director of School Programs and Education, of The Golden Sweater, one of a series of three books by New York Life Foundation about a little boy named Kai who, together with his mom, learns how to navigate a profound loss in their family.
As the guest of honor, Costume Character Elmo from Sesame Street was on site to greet children and families with open arms and generous hugs.

Resources for families included activity worksheets for children, conversation prompts addressing how to approach children experiencing loss, guide books and giveaways of Kai’s Journey.
