Bronx Children’s Museum Tennis FUNdraiser: Game, Set, Matched!
January 30, 2019 - More than 100 attendees – tennis players and non-tennis players alike - came out to support Bronx Children’s Museum at our Tennis FUNdraiser at Gotham Stadium Tennis Center – located just downstairs from our new facility currently under construction.
Inside the largest tennis bubble in the United States, experienced adult players participated in intense round robins and high-intensity drills, while beginners received group instruction from Gotham Stadium Tennis Center pros. Children 3-9 and 9-11 played on separate courts where they could team up with their own age groups.
On deck for a bit of side fun were ping-pong tables, corn hole toss games and other activities for non-players. For those looking for something unique, two courts were available for folks to try their hand at Pickleball.
Inside the club house, sketches of the Museum’s future exhibits were on display. Guests sampled a selection of locally-sourced beers and beverages courtesy of Bronx Beer Hall of Arthur Avenue and enjoyed great food provided by environmentally-conscious Neuman’s Kitchen.
Arm-spans and wing-spans of raffle tickets were sold throughout the night for prizes including, a BBQ package of fresh meats from Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, a night out at Bronx Beer Hall, a two-hour clinic at Gotham Stadium Tennis, house seats to Broadway’s Mean Girls, a gift package of great Bronx-pride swag provided by FromTheBronx.com, dinner for two at Zero Otto Nove on Arthur Avenue, and autographed copies of Changing the Game by Nick Bollettieri.
The event raised more than $10,500. All proceeds from the evening were matched 1 to 1 thanks to a very generous private donor.
